Telephone data collection

Conducting telephone surveys is a cost-effective and efficient way to collect data from a large sample of people, on a wide range of topics from brand and consumer preferences to political opinions.

The following outlines Dataly’s approach to working with you to collect high quality data that meets your requirements through our telephone survey process:

Confirming your requirements

The most important step is at the outset, where we will discuss your requirements, including your research aims and the audience, as well as developing the questionnaire, agreeing format for data provision, timescales and project management arrangements.

Sampling

Dataly will discuss with you the sampling source and whether it is from lists/data supplied by you or whether you would like us to purchase the sample – we have access to a variety of data protection compliant samples to reach diverse audiences, including consumers and businesses.

We will agree with you any quotas and/or other sampling approaches to ensure we achieve a representative sample to meet your requirements. These quotas are baked into our telephone survey software and regularly monitored to ensure they are achieved. We’ll keep you up to date throughout the data collection process with progress.

Questionnaire development

We can help you, if you like, to develop the questionnaire and ensure it is ‘field-ready’, as well as test it before we begin the survey process in earnest.

The survey process

We use specialist computer assisted telephone interviewing software (CATI), which allows us to administer the questionnaires consistently, accurately and efficiently.

All our interviewers are experienced and trained in line with Interviewer Quality Control Scheme and Market Research Society (MRS) guidelines. Before a project starts they are briefed verbally and in writing to ensure they fully understand the research and questionnaire and administer it effectively.

Quality assurance

Our quality assurance processes are consistent with MRS guidelines and ISO 20252 – the international standard for market research. This includes our supervisors and researchers listening into the first 3 or 4 interviews conducted by each interviewer and then a sample of 20% of all interviews listened in to ensure the questionnaires are administered appropriately and consistently.

Providing the results

We will transfer the data to you securely in any format you require, whether that be excel, SPSS or other specialist software. We can also provide you with additional reporting services, such as cross-tabulations, advanced statistical analysis, reporting and dashboard services, amongst others.

In summary, Dataly has an experienced and skilled interviewer team, that adopts industry best practice data collection techniques, ensuring you receive high quality data.
