Many of the brands and companies Dataly works with have an international and global presence, requiring international data collection to gain insights into different cultures, perspectives, and practices. International data collection can be very challenging (and rewarding), requiring experience, expertise and relationships, as well as a strong understanding of cultural sensitivities and language barriers. The following outlines how we manage our international data collection projects to ensure we generate data that is reliable and insightful, as well as culturally sensitive and relevant.
Scope the research
Like all good data collection and research projects, the start of the process is a clear and strong understanding of the research question, focus and audience, amongst other things. Dataly will work closely with you to help inform the research design and that it can be successfully applied in an international context.
Research the country and culture
Dataly will help inform the research design and data collection approaches based on a strong understanding of the country(s) under the spotlight. This includes understanding the demographics, politics, language, customs, beliefs, and social norms of the country, helping ensure the research is sensitive to this, that data collection is feasible and providing context to future insights.
On a practical level, this also includes any necessary permissions to conduct research in the country.
Relationships and partnerships
Dataly has a network of international data collection and research partners, as well as international survey panels, which we can harness to gain access to resources, participants, and information, and also ensure that your research is culturally appropriate and sensitive.
Overcoming language and cultural barriers
Alongside our network of international data collection and research partners, we have a team of researchers and interviewers with backgrounds across Europe (West, Central and Eastern, including Russia), Asia, Middle East, South America, as well as North America and Australasia. We tap into this local knowledge to develop methods that help overcome cultural barriers, while we can conduct interviews from amongst our own team in many different languages.
Ultimately, using our experience, expertise and relationships, Dataly will work closely with you to conduct international data collection, ensuring it is appropriate for the context, cultures, and languages of the geographies you are researching. This helps ensure we provide you with reliable and culturally sensitive and relevant data and insights.
